Labs Septic

A classical question in algebraic geometry is how many cone-singularities a surface of a given degree can have. For degree 7 surfaces this problem is still unsolved. The movie shows part of a septic found by Oliver Labs in 2006. It has 99 cone-singularities (not all can be seen in this movie). By works of Chmutov, Breske, Labs and van Straten it is known that no more than 104 cone-singularities are possible.
